Work in progress...

It's alright for some!

I am still up and down the ladder doing the wallpapering. In between cleaning other guest rooms, ironing bedding, washing, shopping. Just got to the half way mark, hopefully. One of the main problems is it gets dark so early here in the winter that one has to stop..Averaging four drops of paper a day, if I am lucky.

Hopefully all will be finished at the weekend and the room can go 'back on stream'. And I won't have drowned in paste.

And for my next trick...

This shows room 2 of our 3 letting bedrooms. Top of the list for a make over. One of the down sides to running a b&b is that all 'public' rooms have to be 5 star, even if you only get given a measly 3 by the Hotel Inspector. Every visit she has found fault with this room. Last visit it was the seams on the wallpaper. Well I don't claim to be a professional decorater... but here I go again. Hopefully before she lands on us. Its sods law that just as I heave the big sigh and root out the wallpaper scraper we take bookings which we cannot afford to turn away. Perhaps I could get her drunk, slip a Mickey Finn in her porage, any suggestions?

Four Weddings and a Funeral.

Actually one of each has provided us with bookings this month.
Fortunately all we are doing is providing guest accomodation. Thank goodness life goes on - and off - keeps the wolf and the bank manager from the door.

Brrrrrrrrr.

Tis cold. Had our first guests of 2009, a young couple celebrating their first anniversary. Think I should be tapping into this market?
The other 'new' market apparently is star gazers. As we have no street lighting you do get wonderful views of the stars in the sky at night.
So its a four poster bed in the sun room with a telescope......

Happy New Year!

On a serious note.... see below.
Don't worry I will be back to normal tomorrow.

Nuns Prayer
Lord Thou knowest better than I know myself that I am growing older and will someday be old. Keep me from the fatal habit of thinking I must say something on every subject and on every occasion.Release me from craving to straighten out everybody's affairs. Make me thoughtful but not moody: helpful but not bossy. With my vast store of wisdom it seems a pity not to use it all, but thou knowest Lord that I want a few friends at the end.Keep my mind free from the recital of endless details; give me wings to get to the point. Seal my lips on my aches and pains. They are increasing and love of rehearsing them is becoming sweeter as the years by. I dare not ask for grace enough to enjoy the tales of others pains, but help me to endure them with patience.I dare not ask for improved memory, but for a growing humility and a lessening cocksureness when my memory seems to clash with the memories of others. Teach me the glorious lesson that occasionally I may be mistaken.Keep me reasonably sweet; I do not want to be a Saint some of them so hard to live with, but a sour old person is one of the crowning works of the devil. Give me the ability to see good things in unexpected places, and talents in unexpected people. And, give me 0 Lord the grace to tell them so.
